Chantal Zwart is a freelance journalist living in the beautiful city of Paris. Her life is turned upside down when she receives a phone call from Naomi in the middle of the night. Naomi went home with an attractive French man, who died of a heart attack that same night. She panicked and fled, leaving the man for dead. Chantal soon finds out that the man was a famous politician and that this will be major news. This is her big chance for a scoop, handed to her on a silver platter. She tracks down the house where Naomi witnessed the fatal event, but the body has disappeared. In her search for the truth Chantal gets tangled up in a world full of schemes, lies and serious crime.
Michael Berg zette zichzelf bij het grote publiek op de kaart met Nacht in Parijs, waar hij in 2013 de Gouden Strop mee won. Met Het meisje op de weg en Broertje bevestigde hij dat hij tot de top van Nederlandse thrillerschrijvers behoort; beide boeken waren genomineerd voor de Gouden Strop. De vermissing is een bijzondere titel.
